Safeguarding Young People

RWB Volleyball Club welcomes young people to participate in volleyball activities appropriate for their age and ability.  We aim to provide a safe environment where they can enjoy playing and develop their skills and understanding of the game.

The club is committed to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of young people and all its members:

  • We have adopted the child protection policy and guidelines of Volleyball England www.volleyballengland.org/about_us/safeguarding
  • We have appointed a qualified and experienced head coach and club welfare office
  • We have verified that our head coach and club welfare officer have no criminal record

Head Coach : Phil Heads

  • 35 years volleyball coaching experience, from beginner to national league, ages 6 upwards, in clubs, schools, community, regional squads
  • Former professional volleyball development officer and Volleyball England staff tutor (running courses for coaches, teachers, community leaders, players)
  • Coach qualifications: FIVB Level 1, EVA Level 3
  • Coach registered and insured with Volleyball England
  • Also works with young people in cricket and church

Club welfare Officer : Kathryn Broadhurst

  • Qualified and practising primary school teacher for 11 years
  • Experienced in safeguarding young people and working with relevant agencies

Other leaders at the club

  • Qualified coaches, experienced players and parents may assist with dedicated junior volleyball sessions under supervision of the head coach
  • Qualified coaches may lead adult sessions in which juniors are participating
