Aces start the season with a win against Salisbury

20 September 2008 - Three teams to the Pre-Season Tournament

This season Wootton Bassett organised the pre-season tournament at Christie-Miller sports centre - Melksham.  We fielded three teams.  The Aces lost in the final of the main competition, the Braves lost in the semi finals of the shield competition and the Buzzards won the shield competition.  Both the Braves and the Buzzards included competitors who had not played for Wootton Bassett teams before.  Well done to everyone. 

16 Nov 2008 - Record Breaking win for the Famous Bassett Bees

In my memory – OK that’s not so very far – the Bees have never won a DK Match.  Last season we were drawn against our own A team – we lost.   The year before we were drawn against Melksham.  We were awarded the match when they cancelled the fixture on less than one week notice.   In the second round we came up against – our own A team.  We lost.  I don’t remember what happened in the seasons before that.

Maybe the B team was more successful in the past.  On this occasion I was injured during the first set and they went on to win.  Ah… maybe that’s the link.  The standard goes up when I am not there.
