I think our club is healthy, but what do you think?  We have lots of positives, including:

  • A diversity of friendly people who enjoy their volleyball, from under-10s to over-50s.
  • Men, women and junior teams playing indoor winter leagues, plus outdoor volleyball in summer.
  • All our teams have improved their performance this season.
  • Financial stability.

Though we can still improve, if we want a really healthy club:

  • More social events.
  • More coaches (the load on Phil and Irwin is too high, and now Irwin is retiring…).
  • Some new people helping with administration, to share the load.

Let’s discuss these things at our annual club meeting – please tell us if you have ideas for making our club as friendly and successful as possible!

For 2015-16 I’d like to thank all your elected committee members and organisers who make sure halls are booked, players registered, fees paid, match opponents and referees informed, website administered, and all the other tasks that make things run smoothly so we can enjoy our volleyball.  My thanks also to everyone who has supported our teams as spectator or official, helped with the juniors, and made training fun.  Off-court and on-court, it takes great teamwork to make a healthy club.

Now for the numbers… During the indoor season (September to April) we plan a training programme for each team or group during our three-hour club sessions on Sundays, which were attended by 33 regular players.  Catering for different groups makes for a crowded match and training schedule, but we aim to achieve a fair share of time for our teams and players:
